O Mary, help me in this endless fight;
Help your child, in this monstrous sea of care;
O Stella Maris be my guiding light,
Keep close in stormy weather and in fair.
In gale and calm my joy and grief you share,
And shallow water, black depths are endured
Ev’n hell’s rocks and its magnetizing glare
When you hold me, in sweet embrace secured.
And when my life is ended; my course run,
The voyage and the struggle safely o’er,
And life’s big endless battle fought and won,
May I stand hopeful at the Heav’nly door.
